FRANCESC RUIZ ABAD: COPY TO LEARN, LEARN TO COPY

Curated by Lisa Kim

14TH OCTOBER - 4TH NOVEMBER

The LODGE is pleased to present Copy to Learn, Learn to Copy by Francesc Ruiz Abad, his first solo exhibition in the United States.

In this collection of paintings, drawings and film, Ruiz Abad examines the themes of reproduction, repetition, mirroring, translating, copying, and automation using the motifs of playful mass produced commodities such as children’s coloring books and gummi candies.

Mistakes and misunderstandings are a daily occurrence. A universe of potential is opened where the original source and intent of an image, object or word shifts in form, new meanings are created and yet again transformed based on surrounding context and randomness.

A limited-edition book of Mirror drawings will be available. Curated by Lisa Kim.
